There can be no recovery, because there is no such thing as a “jobless recovery”. There is no engine for jobs in the US, and there is a worldwide labor glut. No jobs = no recovery. A recovery means that unemployment benefits don’t need to be extended until the end of time or the end of money, which ever comes first. A recovery means that parents can afford to feed their kids so that the Government doesn’t have to supply one out of four with food stamps. A recovery means that there are more houses are being built than there are in foreclosure. If the banks were actively foreclosing, there would be well over 20 million vacant homes in America. A recovery means an increase in income and sales tax collected. If there is a recovery, why are municipalities and states laying off workers? If this were a recovery, they would be hiring workers, using their growing income and sales tax collections to pay for them.
The US economy we see today is the strongest US economy we will ever see. The standard of living we have today is the highest standard of living we, as a country, will ever have. There is a $110 trillion debt devouring everything in its path, and that debt is growing exponentially. Something ominous is coming, and it will not be something the press can just label a “nascent recession”.
