BP’s shares on Monday fell as much as 5 per cent as traders feared some of the company’s oil was still seeping from the Macondo well despite the newly-installed containment cap holding back most of the leak.
The concern was raised in a letter from Admiral Thad Allen, the highest-ranking US official dealing with the day-to-day response in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The sharply-worded correspondence makes clear that the US government does not intend to reduce its demands on BP following the success of the containment cap.
via FT.com / Canada – BP shares fall amid fresh spill fears.
That’s some spin and subliminal messaging there “Financial Times”.
They still think it’s the heyday of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company wherein anywhere they are, it’s their oil.
Seeing as how the success of the containment cap might lead to a rupture of the seafloor (which is the reasonable fear), just what “demands” should we reduce.
Look people of Britain. I’m sorry all you have left of the British Empire is BP. I know it’s about your only source of income. Why then, did you have Billy Bunter run it instead of Biggles?

This is simple. So simple even politicians in Kansas can get it.
Number of Americans killed in the last three months as a DIRECT result of BP’s negligance: 11
Number of Americans killed in the last three months as a DIRECT result of using herbal incense: 0
I’m not saying smoking herbal incense is a good idea, only that the Government condones much more dangerous behavior than smoking herbal incense.

Will he talk about the environmental terrorism visited on our country by BeePee?
Nope. He’s going to bang on the Republicans about unemployment.
Will he talk about the thousands of Americans that have lost their livelihoods due to the negligence of Tony Hayward’s company?
Don’t even waste your time Obama. You’re asking us to pick which party gets to destroy this country.
We are where we are today as a nation due entirely to the action of BOTH the Democrats and Republicans.
This is like expecting Summers and Geithner to get us out of our financial predicament after they cause it.
A Pox on both your houses.

After calling in for the daily 8:30 a.m. BP briefing, the operator stated it has been canceled. No time given for rescheduling.
If FDR could hide the fact he was a cripple, Obama can sure as shit TRY to hide this disaster.
Never underestimate the power of the Federal Government…

The U.S. will announce Monday hundreds of millions of dollars worth of civilian aid projects for Pakistan, American officials said, in an attempt to demonstrate that Washington has broadened its relationship with the country, away from just anti-terror cooperation to helping the people of Pakistan.

If you’re 55+ and have a pre-existing condition, It’s gonna cost you $ 11,776 a year for premium ($ 773 mo.) plus $ 2500 deductible, plus Dr. co-pays of $ 25 a pop, plus drug costs of 4 – 30 per script.
Knowing that your prescription costs will never exceed $5,950 should really be a relief to those of you unable to find affordable health care.
Check my numbers here.
What a farce this health care crap is.

The well would not have to be reopened to try a bullhead kill, the technician said.If the well is not reopened, the exact flow rate of oil may never be known. It is estimated at 35,000 to 60,000 barrels a day.
via Optimistic BP Hopeful That Damaged Well Can Stay Closed – NYTimes.com.
And without the rate of flow fines can not be levied, charges made, etc, etc., etc..
BP will probably never give up more than the 20 billion USD Obama squeezed out of them.
Once again, we’ve been “played”.
UPDATE: WoPo’s “take”:
Hooking the well up to those pipes provide a key statistic: since all the well’s oil would have been gathered, there would finally be a concrete measurement of how much oil was leaking. This “flow rate,” which has only been guessed at so far, will be a key figure in determining BP’s liability for the spill.

The WoPo story also leaves no doubt that BP and the Government are having a little pissing contest after all.

The official said BP is not complying with the government’s demand for more monitoring. BP spokesman Mark Salt declined to comment on the allegation, but said “we continue to work very closely with all government scientists on this.”

So this is what “being in charge” looks like. I thought it was you more like you tell them to shit and they ask how high.
That must be old school…

On June 6, 2010, Indianola, Iowa, teen, David Rozga, 18, committed suicide after having a panic attack attributed to smoking K2 with his friends. After consumption, he told them that he was going to hell then went home where he shot and killed himself. His parents and the police place the blame for his actions on K2, because according to David’s parents, this was out of character.

The mother of a friend of David Rozga’s said the teen had spoken of suicide in the past and was depressed.

The legislation “will help restore the great strength of the American financial system, which — at its best — develops innovative ways to provide credit and capital, not just for our great global companies, but for the individual with an idea and a plan,” Geithner said to reporters shortly after the bill was approved.
via Timothy Geithner’s realm grows with passage of financial regulatory reform.
Personally, the only thing Timmy Geithner should get is a prison sentence. It won’t happen, there will never be an investigation, charges, nothing. The proof that Timmy was party to illegal and fraudulent acts will never come to light.
But then, these people managed to piss off Jesus to the point he became downright violent about it.
Yep, the first thing he did of note was to overturn the moneychangers tables at the temple.
If they managed to rile up the Prince of Peace, that should tell you something…
